Climax of Divine Love
“Unending torrential tears of Love of my beloved son (Dipty) do not let them dry up”.
ather was a total disciple of Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj. His love and
devotion for Babaji was his tears. He would pour forth a flood of them.
He would invariably, as a daily routine, bathe the Lotus Feet of the Lord
with these precious pourings of love. He used to weep like a child in
divine ecstasy thereby not only completely dissolving his own heart but
also that of anyone present around him. The climax was uniquely fascinating.
His love and devotion with its intensity would move, and melt the heart
of the Lord to an extent that the Lord himself would bathe His devout
son with His own tears. In this mutual love of the Lover and the Beloved
everyone present intimately felt the presence of the Lord at close quarters
and many lucky ones envisioned the whole eternal sport.
It was on the morning of 4th March 1980 at breakfast time. Father was sitting outside, in front of the garage, in the open space in our house No. 203, Sector 33-A, Chandigarh. Kamaljit Singh, son of Sardar Bhagwant Singh of Air Force who was then in personal service of father, served breakfast. Father had just emerged from his prayer room after a span of 5 to 6 hours and suddenly again went into a divine rapture. With holy tears flowing like streams, he started bathing the lotus feet of his beloved Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj. This was his daily Nit- Nem.
This exotic stream of love flowed from the depths of his rapturous soul to the depths of the Supreme Soul. It was a continuous process and the stream never dried up. He was blessed with an inexhaustible treasure of intense Love and from this precious treasure poured forth the precious gems of his holy tears in sublime ecstasy.
The Pangs of separation were unbearable. The Condition of the bereaved Lover was pathetic. His yearning for His beloved Master was maddening, His entire yearning, contemplation and meditation were directed and focussed on the lotus feet of Babaji. And Babaji was no finite person. He was the all pervading Reality, Truth and Divnity supreme/supernal. With streams of flowing tears, his clothes were completely drenched. But we noticed a very strange thing that day. With tears streaming down, his clothes had become wet-but how strange it was that his turban had also been drenched and had become totally wet.
Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj that day could contain no more, the mighty flood of divine Love within, and flooded and inundated his beloved devotee’s turban, dress nay his whole being with His holy tears. Such concrete, rock-like, solid is the eternal presence of Mahan Babaji though seemingly he had physically disappeared in 1943. The Lord clears the debt of devotion in such unique ways. Mysterious are the ways of the Lord.
Like the burning desire of Mati Das to continue beholding the beloved Satguru (Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib) till his last breath, my respected father's spiritual ambition was to continue beholding the glorious vision of Sri Guru Nanak Sahib and his beloved Babaji every moment of his life.
Father’s devotional instinct/impulse/emotion was always in spate within and gushed forth in streams of tears daily to bathe the sacred feet of his beloved Lord. What a unique daily Nit-Nem which he never missed till the very last day of his physical existence. When he was thus bathing the lotus feet of Babaji with his streaming tears of love, Babaji’s love for His devotee which had welled upto the brim, burst forth and bathed the true lover in His own tears.
My younger sister, Bibi Bholan Rani, eldest sister Bibi Ajit Kaur and Kamaljit Singh have preserved with utmost care that holy turban of respected father so compassionately drenched in holy tears of Mahan Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj.
The Climax of this unique love was also soul-stirring. Some blessed souls who envision Mahan Babaji and bask in His Grace, beheld that his lotus feet and socks were invariably wet. On their humble enquiry, Mahan Babaji most touchingly replied “Unending torrential tears of Love of my beloved son (Dipty) do not let them dry up”.
As Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Sri Guru Nanak Sahib and Baba Harnam Singh Ji Maharaj had revealed the most intimate and close relationship of father with them in previous births, this process of tearful ecstasy and tearful reunion was repeated frequently with all of them.
Mahan Babaji once remarked that these devotional tears were the most precious jewels of the heaven and the sins of the whole world could be washed away with these. No doubt, with this price-less weapon of tears he had won and conquered the Lord.
